DANIEL GENE DEAKINS

Daniel Gene Deakins age 73 of Whitwell passed away Friday, November 22, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar & Phyllis Deakins; sister, Rebecca Minter; brothers, Bob, Jack & George Deakins.  Mr. Deakins served in the United States Army National Guard and United States Air National Guard.  He was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church and retired from Dupont.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 50 years, Shirley Jean Deakins; three children, Sherri (Tim) Zink of Chattanooga, Lynda (Rusty) Martin of Ft. Oglethorpe, Tim (Stacey) Deakins of White House; brother, Don (Royce) Deakins; eight grandchildren, Justin (Jennifer) Martin, Levi Higgins, Coby (Kayse) Martin,  Courtney (Wes) Kean, Sydney Zink, Matthew Zink, Claire (Jordan) Baker, Wesley Deakins; nine great grandchildren, Braeleigh Higgins, Maci Higgins, Taylor Higgins, Avery Higgins, Abby Sikes, Vivian Sikes, Scout Sikes, Emory Kate Martin, Madison Martin.

Family will receive friends 12-6PM, Central time Sunday, November 24, 2019.

Funeral service will be 6PM, Central time, Sunday, November 24, 2019 with Rev. Frank Kelley officiating.  Interment at a later date in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
