JOHN CREED MCCRARY

John C. McCrary, Sr. age 90 of Whitwell, formerly of Signal Mtn. passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Lee Griffith McCrary; parents, William Judson & Minnie Irene Williams McCrary; son, John Creed McCrary, Jr; sisters, Gladys McFarland, Betty Bolinger, Hattie Ferguson, Mary Ruth Daniels, Minnie Bell Smith, Ella Katherine McCrary; brothers, James “Bud” McCrary, William R. McCrary.

Those left to cherish his memories are children, Joan (Richard), Katherine, Patricia (Bill), Mary, Louise (John), Carolyn (Wayne), Christine, Tony (Elaine); sisters, Ruby Daniel of Rossville, Ga, Dorothy Crawley of Chapperal, New Mexico, Alice Felix of Rainesville, AL; brother Jacob C. McCrary of  Chapel Hill, NC; 28 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Family will receive friends, 3-8PM, Wednesday, January 30, 2019, 10AM-8PM, Thursday, January 31, 2019.

Funeral services will be at 1:30PM, CST, Friday, February 1, 2019 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gerald Long, Rev. Mike Manning, Rev. Larry Layne, Rev. Jamie Pack, & Rev. James Dotson.  Interment at Sawyer Cemetery on Signal Mtn., TN.  Pallbearers will be Creed McCrary, Brian Almond, David McCrary, Timmy Thomas, Sam Rutherford, Randy McCrary, Colby McCrary, Tod Brakefield;  Honorary pallbearers will be all ministers who worked and worshipped with John since he entered the ministry in 1954.
