Roger Layne age 63 of Whitwell, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018.  He was preceded in death by his parents, McKinley & Ollie Mae Layne; sisters, Sadie Kilgore, Sue Rankin; brothers, Mac Layne, Harold David Layne. Roger retired from Mitchell Tire after 24 years.  He was involved with Whitwell Dixie Baseball League for 13 years.

Those left to cherish his memories are two sons, Roger Wade (Kelli) Layne, Jr., Jason Todd (Bretney) Layne; two sisters, Joyce (JW) Ruth, Bonnie (James) Kilgore; five grandchildren, Ava, McKaine, Maddyn, Ella, & Briggs; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Family will receive friends 4-8PM, Saturday, November 10, 2018.

Funeral services will be at 12 Noon, Sunday, November 11, 2018 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ronnie Vandergriff officiating.  Interment at Layne’s Chapel Cemetery.

I am so sorry for your loss. Roger was a dear friend of mine whom I had the pleasure of working with for over 6 years at MITCO. Over the past year whenever he would come by to visit, it was always so nice to see him and speak with him. He will most definitely be missed by our organization and those who knew him.

RIP.I will never forget you.You were one of my closest friends in High school.You always had a smile and new me when we got out of school.You never changed always the same funny person everytime I spoke to you.You will be missed by all.Prayers for the family

Roger / Jason -- Want you guys to know that he was Very Proud of you Young Men... We talked a lot about our children over 18 years of working together... I know he was proud !!! He did Good !!! Going to Miss My Buddy....

Sending many prayers in both of you guys times of loss of your fantastic dad!! Very sorry we couldn't attend. What an absolute blessing to have known and experience first hand this awesome man!! So mannnny fantastic memories to count from making us a ball field in Victoria to skinnin' my very 1st catfish & a man that could sharpen a knife like no other!! Think the world of both Roger and Jason!! May God's loving arms be around you both and your families in this time and the days to come!! Remembering him in good times, always in a good mood, always great to me, and loved his boys!!!
