ERNEST GENE ("ERNIE") DAWSON

Ernest Gene Dawson age 60 of Whitwell went home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, July 26, 2020.  Ernie was of the  Church of God faith.  He was a professional gospel singer and songwriter for over 30 years singing with his group Ernie Dawson and Heirline.  He was best known for his song "Mama's Prayer", "He's Alive", My Home", and many more.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 37 years, Linda Joyce Dawson; two sons, Eric (Alexis) Dawson of Whitwell; Landon Heath Dawson of Whitwell; sister, Linda Faye Dawson Linares; brothers, Melvin Dawson & Marvin Dawson; a host of nieces and nephews, and an abundance of friends from all around the country.

To know Ernie was to love him.  He loved and he loved big.  He always had a smile on his face and kind word to lend.  He had a huge heart and he loved the Lord.  Even though there's sorrow in our hearts, there's a celebration in that "home that was just around the bend."  We will miss him forever and love him always.
