Edna Ruth (Christian) Layne

Edna Ruth Christian Layne of Whitwell, Tennessee passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021 at 4:28am at her home surrounded  by family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, James “Jim” Christian and mother, Betty Ann Hughes Christian; husband of 54 years, William Howard Layne; brother, James “Jim” Christian, Jr. and sister-in-law, Odean; niece, Cynthia Plyler.  Edna was a member of the Church of Christ in Whitwell and a Whitwell High School Graduate, class of 1949.

Survivors include son, James H. Layne and daughter-in-law, Bertie June Hackworth of Dunlap; daughter, Gayla Odette Layne Baker of Whitwell; son, Roger W. Layne of Whitwell; grandchildren, Tanya Layne, Tyler Layne and wife Katie of Dunlap, Trevor Layne of Dunlap; sweet sister, Sharon Keahey; great grandchildren, Tori, Ava, & Mason Layne of Dunlap.

As per her wishes there was no visitation and a private burial.  In lieu of flowers please send memorial donations to the Church of Christ in Whitwell.
