Geneva Jane (Burgess) Cooley

Geneva Jane Cooley age 81 of Whitwell passed October 6, 2025. Born July 26, 1944, in Chattanooga. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Ras Cooley, granddaughter, Tasha Michelle Higgins; father, James Alfred Burgess, mother, Lillie Dodson Burgess, brothers, James Richard Burgess, Joseph Roscoe Burgess, Roy Franklin Burgess; sisters-in-law, Shirley Burgess and Ruth Burgess.

Survivors include her daughters, Meshelle (Danny Atterton) Higgins and Rachael (Bo) Nunley both of Whitwell; grandchildren, Austin (Amber) Nunley, Evan (Reagan Hansard) Nunley and Ashley (Parker Griffith) Higgins; great grandchild, Ellison Jane Nunley; sisters, Faye Ross, Lou Alice Renegar, Dorthy Burgess and June Burgess Blalock ; sister-in-law, Joyce Ann Burgess.

Her family will receive friends 12PM-8PM, CST, Thursday, October 9, 2025.

Funeral Service 2PM, CST Friday, October 10, 2025, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Burgess and Pastor Danny Chance officiating.

 Interment to follow at Red Hill Cemetery.
