JANICE HENRY Obituary

This is my story…….In 1947, I was born the 11th of 12 children to the late Buck and Lucille Layne of Whitwell, Tn. My siblings called me Jannie and considered me a stubborn, feisty, little firecracker. Maybe, it was because I was the baby girl! In 1965, I married my love, Charles (Doe) Henry and had four amazing children. After the tragic loss of my husband in 1977, I decided to return to school for my GED and then attend Nursing school to provide a better life for myself and my children. In 1983 I received my LPN license. It helped to be stubborn and feisty to achieve these goals. My children, Keith, Christie, Kim and Ken at times thought that I was a strict, overprotective parent, which I probably was, but it was only because I wanted to make sure that they were successful and equipped to handle all of life’s challenges. After living a full and rewarding life, today, December 29th, my Sweet Jesus beckoned me home. Although I know my precious children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will miss me, it won't be long until we are all reunited. Janice Faye Henry, age 73, was preceded in death by her sisters, Cook Rollins and Doris Ann Layne, brothers, McKinley, Ralph, Carl and Buck Jr. Layne. She is survived by her children, Keith (Dareld) Henry, Christie (Brent) Upchurch, Kimberly (Andrew) Hughes and Ken (Michiko) Henry. Grandchildren LeShea (Jeremy) Cochu, Kyle (Brittany) Upchurch, Jarrod (Katie) Nunley, Levi and Ian Hughes, Kilana (Daiki) Nagashima, Keimi and Ken Henry. Great Grandchildren, Makenlee and Emberlin Upchurch and Jake and Liam Nagashima. Sisters, Betty Layne, Genevieve (James) Beasley, special niece, Debbie Kilgore. Brothers, Wayne Layne, Doug (Fannie) Layne and J.C (Dorothy Jean) Layne. And several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 1PM, Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Kilgore Cemetery in Whitwell with Rev. Brent Upchurch officiating.

Pallbearers will be Brent Upchurch, Andrew Hughes, Kyle Upchurch, Jarrod Nunley, Jeremy Conchu, Buckie Layne; Special pallbearers, Levi Hughes & Josh Layne.
