Johnny O'Neal Cox

Johnny O'Neal Cox, age 53, of Whitwell, Tennessee, was born December 29, 1972, and passed away January 17, 2026.

Johnny was employed by the Department of Veteran Affairs, where he faithfully served others. He was a member of Lookout Valley Baptist Church and cherished his faith and family.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Porter and Betty McCurry, and Bill and Joyce Cox.

Those left to treasure his memories are his wife of 31 years, Claudia “Bo” Cox; children, Garrett Dillon Cox, Abigail Jaclene Cox, and Cassandra Faith Cox; parents, Glen and Sandra Cox; brother, Billy (Kim) Cox; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of friends and eight loving fur babies.

Family will receive friends 2PM-8PM, Thursday, January 22, 2026, and 10AM-1145AM, Friday, January 23, 2026, at Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral Service 12PM, Friday, January 23, 2026, at Laynes Chapel Church with Pastor Troy Walliser, Pastor Michael Shrum and Pastor Clint Shrum officiating. Interment to follow Layne’s Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers, Grant Sims, Alex Lowery, Patton Grooms, Mason Grooms, Rielly Grayson, Tavin McDonough, Braylon Beason, Maddoux Beason and Knox Beason. Honorary pallbearers, Hudson Petty, Brady Gudger, Riley Cooper, Noah Roach, Jess Morrison and Brayden Condra.
