LUCY LIGHT (HOUCHINS) BYRD

Lucy Houchins Light Byrd, age 92, went to be with her Heavenly Father on February 1, 2020.

She is preceded in death by parents, Bert and Grace Walker Houchins; son, Jerry Lynn Light; daughter, Sherry Ann Light; husband, George Light; husband, Allie Byrd; sisters, Fay Vickers, Marie Kirkpatrick, and Lula Bowser; and brother, Bill Houchins.

Lucy is survived by son, Gary (Kay) Light; granddaughter, Tonia Light (Elmo) Carabajal; grandson, Travis (Debi) Light; great -granddaughters, Sarah and Savannah Carabajal; daughter-in-law,  Anna (Russell) Cole; step-son, Stanley (Glenda) Byrd; several nieces and nephews; and many dear and faithful friends.

She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Gray, TN and was a part of the Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church family in Whitwell, TN.

Lucy loved life, especially when traveling or spending time  with family and friends.  She lived much of her life in Kingsport, TN.  After retirement, she and George traveled extensively and spend several winters in Fort Myers Beach, FL.  After  marrying her high school sweetheart, she and Allie resided in Gray, TN.

Family will receive friends 3-7PM Central time Friday, February 7, 2020 with funeral service to follow at 7PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Brenda Woods officiating.
