Reverend James A. Layne

Reverend James A. Layne, age 80 of Whitwell, went home to be with his Lord, Thursday, May 5, 2022. Mr. Layne was a pastor of several churches in the Whitwell area.  He was a faith-based husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a member of Griffith Creek Congregational Methodist Church.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 58 years Patricia Stout Layne; children, Tresea (Darius) Hobbs, Tammy (Daniel) Willoughby both of Dunlap, JoAnna (Tim) Rogers of Chattanooga; honorary daughters, April Newman of Dalton and Dolores Nunley of Whitwell; grandchildren, Loucrecia (Michael) Winegar, Ashley Vandergriff, Nesha (Keith) Cartwright, Nicholus Huff, Thomas (Brook) Willoughby, Felicia (Tyler) Hereden, Jaime Willoughby, Talayne (Desire) Rogers, Megan (Trey Phillips) Rogers, and Maggie G. Rogers; great grandchildren, Mia Rose Winegar, Jaylee King, Brystal Layne, TJ Hereden, Colston Willoughby, Brantley Willoughby, Talysa Rogers, Jameson Rogers, and Zander Rankin; honorary great grandchild, Jacob Elliot; brother, Paul Layne; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Family will receive friends, 5-8PM, Friday, May 6, 2022 at the funeral home.

                                            11-2PM, Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the church.

Funeral services will be 2PM, Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Griffith Creek Congregational Methodist Church with Bro. Dennis Rollins and Bro. Daniel Willoughby officiating.  Interment at Griffith Creek Cemetery.
