VERA DEAKINS Obituary

Vera Mae Deakins, 92, died March 20, 2022 at her home in Cartwright, Tennessee. She was born to Isaac and Alta Ashburn Owens of Whitwell, TN on June 27, 1929. She raised her own family in Hixson, TN.

Vera is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Deakins also of Whitwell and a son Robert Owen Deakins. She is survived by her three daughters, Dena Simpson of Hixson, TN, Robin (Frank) Webb of Lewisburg, TN, and Bonnie (Ann) Deakins of Whitwell. She also had four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Vera was in the first hire group at DuPont in 1948. She also worked at Chandler Fabrics in Hixson for 19 years.

She was a very sweet and loving person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 24, from 12 - 2PM (CDT) with the funeral service immediately following at 2PM at the Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home, 795 Morrison Springs Road, Whitwell, TN 37397. Burial will follow in the Condra Cemetery. Bro. Frank Webb will be officiating. Pallbearers will be members of the family.
