William Damascus Stokes, age 92, passed away on March 31, 2026. He was born on July 9, 1933.
William graduated from Whitwell High School in 1952. He later retired from Combustion after 32 years of dedicated service and was a proud member of the Boilermakers Union. He also honorably served his country in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Evelyn Carpenter Stokes, and his parents, Walter and Viola Stokes; brother, Howard Stokes of Jasper; sister, Mary Louise Coffman of Whitwell.
Those left to cherish his memories are his three children, Rickey (Denise) Stokes of Jasper, Tamara (Randall) Worley of Whitwell, and Jacqueline (Wes) Thompson of Jasper; six grandchildren, Jarrad, Zane (Ashley), Tarrah (Jason), Brooke, Ryan (Michelle), and Trey (Taylor); and great-grandchildren, Cole (Hannah) Jarran, Jentree, Heidi, Griffin, Draven, and Sophie.

He will be remembered for his hard work, dedication to his family, and the many memories he shared with those who loved him.
His family will receive friends 2PM-6PM, CST, Thursday, April 2, 2026 with the funeral service to follow at 6PM, Thursday, April 2, 2026 in the funeral home chapel.
There will also be a Graveside Service 11:30AM, CST, Friday, April 3, 2026, at The Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. Interment to follow.
